Run for the Community by the Community
We are Blackburn United Community Sports Club. Our vision is that our Club, through our football teams, sports, health and wellbeing inspired projects, will strive to improve life in Blackburn using our shared values and working with our partners. We want to develop as a Community Club and enhance the lives of the people of Blackburn through sport and healthy participation activities. This means that, from our adult team playing in the Scottish Football Pyramid, to our boys teams and our ladies and girls teams, to our soccer school, to our additional needs football and to our associated sports and activities, all involved are central to the aspirations of the Club.
We are an SFA Quality Mark and Platinum Legacy Club. The legacy awards are a quality mark put in place by the SFA to ensure adherence to high standards in a range of important criteria that includes coaching, player development, welfare and community engagement. The prestigious Platinum award is the highest level achievable within this demanding framework.
We also hold the West Lothian Council's Community Sports Club Development Scheme Award and are a registered Scottish Charity, SC048124, Regulated by the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR).
Our Community Club has an overall membership number approaching 400.
The youth football section of the Club is made up of teams that range in age from Under 8's through to Under 18's while the First Team set-up comprises of the first team and our U20's. Along with a soccer school for the younger kids, a growing ladies and girls section, additional needs provision and a burgeoning multi sports section, the Purdie Worldwide Community Stadium is a thriving community hub which provides the guidance and direction of fully qualified SFA and Scottish Athletics coaches.
The Purdie Worldwide Community Stadium (New Murrayfield Park) sits on Ash Grove in the heart of the Blackburn community and comprises a state of the art, fully enclosed, floodlit 3G pitch with covered spectator provision and a further three, 11-a-side grass pitches. All the pitches are serviced by a six dressing room pavilion which also houses the Club's lounge as well as meeting and kitchen facilities.
